Lady Bird Lake is found in the industrial section of Austin, Tx on the east side. The lake, or reservoir, rest's along the Colorado river, which originates in Dawson Country, Texas. It was created by the Longhorn Dam, and acted as a cooling pond for the local electrical power station. Originally named Town Lake, the name was changed in 2007 to honor former US First Lady Claudia "Lady Bird " Johnson who was the wife of former US President Lyndon B. Johnson, AKA LBJ. The Johnson's were a prominent family in Austin Texas, both sides of the Johnson family entered the United States in the early 1700's as indentured servants. "Lady Bird" {maiden name Taylor) was a descendant of Rowland Taylor, who was a Protestant martyr, and was burned at the stake, as a result of the Marian Persecutions, which resulted when "Bloody Mary" (Queen Mary I) was placed on the throne of England in 1553. The area was an industrial cesspool until Lady Bird pushed the city council to upgrade the environment. Today in appears as a beautiful scenery along the Austin City sky light, but something sinister lies in wait in the location of the murky reddish lake on the Colorado river.
The construction of the Longhorn Dam was completed in the year of 1960. It was a novelty and a cool splash in the hot Texas sun for the residence as the once named Town Lake began to fill. However, something treacherous was soon to manifest itself. In several months after the reservoir matured from the blockage of the Longhorn Dam, one of the worlds most deadly toxins was released into the Colorado River at the Longhorn Dams location. Dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane (DDT) was dumped into the storm drain by a cotton insect powder developer, Acock Laboratories. The storm drain, where the toxins were dumped, emptied into the area where the now Longhorn Dam is built. It was a massive amount of raw DDT power, which resulted in, not only a fish kill, but a kill of every living thing 200 miles down river all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. According to Scientific America DDT can effect humans for generations. Granddaughters whose grandmothers were exposed to the toxic substance have heath issues from DDT exposure because a female fetus produces all of it's eggs before birth. Thus, a mother who has DDT exposure would contaminate the eggs of her daughter, which are the eggs of her soon to be granddaughter, before birth no go zone"
. This was just the beginning of the lives to be claimed by Lady Bird Lake.
In April of 2008 a Muslim man named Riad Hamad was found floating in the water on the east-side of the the I 35 bridge his hands and legs were bound together with duck tape. Mr. Hamad was under investigation by the FBI and IRS for Money Laundering. In addition, he was out spoken regarding the USA/Israeli alliance in the middle-east. However, he was considered to be a good civics minded person in the Austin community. In describing the body it was said he looked like he had been attacked by an animal.
In October of 2012 Cole Christianson (Baptist) was found floating in the waters of Shoal Creek a tributary of Lady Bird Lake. He was a native of Alaska.
In October of 2014 near Cesar Chavez and Lavaca streets the body of Eleno Efren Valle a student at St. Edward's University, a private, Catholic university was found floating in the water.
In June of 2015 Julio Santos III (Catholic) who had just graduated form North Texas University was found floating in the water. However, he was last seen on 6th street, which is 7 to 8 blacks from the lake.
In 2016, several miles down river from Lady Bird Lake near the 2900 block of Wickham Lane, Austin, Tx the body of Fernando Domingo Ortiz (age 35) was found.
In Early October 2018 Luis Alberto Ramirez (age 37) (a student at St. Edward's University a small catholic school) was found floating on the south side of Lake Lady Bird.
In November 2018 another body is found up river to Lady Bird Lake in an unexplained disappearance on Lake Austin. Chris White ((age 25) Lutheran) was reported to have had Cocaine and MDMA in his blood.
On December 7th 2018 Randy Lexvold was found dead floating in Shoal Creek up near sixth street. Austin Police believe he fell of the bridge and hit his head.
In November of 2019 guy named Christian Pugh was reported missing from the Night Club scene on Rainey Street in Austin Texas. He was last seen at Clive on Rainey Street. He was found alive
but in bad condition.
In 2022, 29-year-old Joshua Crow died from blunt force trauma while riding his bike to work on Rainey Street.
In December of 2022 Kyle Thornton, 56, is found floating in Lady Bird Lake.
In Feb of 2023 Jason John was reported missing for 8 day after being scene in the Rainey Street area at a bar called Cantina 512. However, Witnesses did see Mr. John vomiting near the lake. He was latter found floating in Lady Bird Lake.
In March of 2023 Clifton Axtell was last seen at a taco truck on Rainey Street. He was found April 1st floating in Lady Bird Lake.
On March 31st 2023 Jonathan Honey was last seen at a taco truck on Rainey Street. He was found April 1st floating in Lady Bird Lake.
Again in April of 2023 Christopher Hays-Clark (age 40, ) is found died in Lady Bird lake, however, he is found near the Longhorn Dam away from the Rainey Street night club-high end Motel district.
In May of 2023, Austin Police pulled a bullet riddled car from the lake and associated 8 floating victims with the incidence.
In June of 2023 Mogga Dogale is found floating in water and pronounced dead. Like Christopher Hays-Clark, Mogga Dogale's body is found far from the Rainey Street night club-high end Motel district, However, Mr. Dogales's body was found up river from the Rainey Street area. Not far but on the periphery.
Interesting point of note, prior to the Christopher Hays-Clark and Mogga Dogale bodies were found the Austin Police increased the night patrols along the river and installed additional lighting. If this a killer, A man hunter, then the killer has reacted to the increase in patrols and additional security features by expanding their territory or hunting grounds or maybe dumping grounds.
Also, all the bodies have been Males. No Females. Furthermore, a large majority have been young 20 somethings many fresh out of college. All the bodies are fully clothed. None of the victims were robbed of valuables. All of the victims had a toxicology report completed. None of the victims have been found to have had controlled substance other than alcohol, except for Chris White. However, his body was found in Austin lake, which in the scheme of things makes it an anomaly.
Mr. Black, the narrator on the True Crime Documentary regarding the Lady Bird Lake body Count, has developed a solid theory to explain the periodic floating dead bodies found in Lady Bird Lake. He postulates the victims are the result of a robbery gone bad. He makes a good case. According to his story the victims drinks are spiked while clubbing, or they are drugged from using a reused vape device that has the knock out drug in the vape equipment. The Drug of choice is 1.4 BDO or GHB. Both cause the victim to fall asleep, become unconscious. Then the assailant , possibly a fake cab driver the bar set up, takes the victim's phone and opens it up with the finger print or face recognition. The victim, who is totally out of it, has no idea what's happening. Once in the phone, access to the victims accounts, and the transfers begin. Now, if the victim overdoses, the gangsters just throw them in the water and take nothing. Both drugs can dissipate in the body in less than 12 hours. No toxicology and no foul play.
The City of Austin Texas has installed fencing and low level lighting along the Hike and Bike trail which runs down the shoreline of the lake. In addition, medics patrol the area south of Rainey street to assist drunken drifters. Also, a few cameras will be installed in the more dangerous areas.
