On Wednesday March 27th, 2024, a man named Christian Soto went berserk after smoking Marijuana and experiencing some kind of drug induced psychosis. He was smoking marijuana with a childhood friend in a town north of Chicago, Il called Rockford, Il. Both his friend, whose house he was at during the smoke out, and his friends mother were killed by Mr. Soto. He attacked nine people within a mile from each other in about 20 minutes with a katana-style kitchen knife he picked up in his friend's kitchen. He broke into several homes and caught the occupants totally off guard and defenseless. He killed three with a knife and one with a bat. He bludgeoned three little girls in their home, and one, at 15 years old, struggled with Mr. Soto in order to save her sister and friends life. She died. Heroic indeed, and tragic loss of a good soul. Where does almighty God find people with that kind of courage? It was absolutely stunning that he canvassed an entire neighborhood in broad daylight wreaking havoc and carnage on unsuspecting people with a basic kitchen knife. Ironically, had Mr. Solo used a firearm of some sort; the victims may have had time to prepare or take cover, or maybe arm themselves due to the loud noise of a bullet discharge. However, Mr. Soto used a knife and no one heard him coming. Mr. Soto had had some brushes with the law in his past, which were mainly traffic infractions, but nothing to extrapolate violent behavior especially of this nature.
Illinois has gone down the road of catering to the marijuana crowd by passing marijuana friendly laws in recent years. However, marijuana is still a class one controlled substance on the DEA’s controlled substance list. It is classified as a very dangerous narcotic, and based on this incidence we can see why.
This should be a wake up call to everyone. The world is changing
